Chris Smalling was delighted to be back for Roma in last night's 0-0 draw with Europa League opponents CSKA Sofia.

It was Smalling's first appearance since signing permanently from Manchester United.

"I've been waiting all summer to get back out there," he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It's a pleasure to be back with the team, although we are disappointed not to have the full three points.

“We didn't play with the right intensity in the first half, we should've moved the ball around quicker, something that we did do better after the break.

“I feel good and I tried to help the team. I trained well in the last couple of days and I'm getting back into shape. I'm not at my best yet, but I'm sure I'll get there very soon."
