Smalling confident handling Man Utd pressure

Former Fulham defender Chris Smalling feels confident about handling the pressures of being a Manchester United player.

While there are still plenty of areas that he needs to work on Smalling is ahead of schedule in many ways as he possesses a maturity that belies his age.

It is that level-headedness that has allowed him to ease into United's star-studded dressing room without causing too much fuss and he insists that he is starting to feel at home as a United player.

"With the move coming about in January, I've basically had six months to sort everything out. That has been good as it hasn't been rushed, like so many transfers are," he told the Daily Mail.

"I've been able to sort out where I'm living and get familiar with the city. And then there is the training and everything connected with the club - just easing into it all really.

"I feel comfortable now at the club and the pre-season has helped to get to know the lads a lot better. The idea was for me to get to know everyone and get a few games, so it has been very worthwhile for myself."
