Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Martin Skrtel an Mamadou Sakho will not take part in Liverpool's meeting with Bordeaux this week.

The Reds host the French club in the Europa League on Thursday night but will be without the central defensive pair who are ill and injured respectively.

"When you have one problem, then you have another one. Martin Skrtel is a bit ill," said Klopp.

"Mamadou Sakho is in a good way but he is not ready to play, so we have two new ones, and we will see how we handle this."

Skrtel starred in the weekend's 4-1 win over Manchester City but Sakho missed with a knee injury that could keep him out for the next few weeks.

Liverpool sit second in Group B with six points from their four fixtures thus far which has them two in arrears of leaders Sion and three ahead of Bordeaux.
