Sir Trevor Brooking has stated that Manchester City are stalling the development of Patrick Roberts.

18-yer-old winger Roberts joined City from Fulham during the summer but has found regular minutes on the pitch hard to come by since his arrival to the Etihad Stadium.

Having featured for only 54 minutes so far this season, Roberts most certainly has endured a frustrating time at City and now England great Brooking has gone on to slam the Citizens for stalling the youngster's progress.

Brooking told The Sun: "Patrick has the potential to be a special player and an England regular. He's part of a very talented crop of youngsters we have who could win Euro 2020.

"But he needs to play in order to develop — and that is not happening. He's only had a few run outs as a sub, one in the league and two in the Capital One Cup.

"That's not enough."
