Darren Ferguson is in the frame for the job at Sheffield United.

The Mail on Sunday says Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson is canvassing for son Darren to get the vacant manager's job at Sheffield United with first-choice Mark Warburton reluctant to accept the Blades' offer.

Ferguson has informed third parties to put Darren's name forward for the post at League One United who sacked Nigel Clough after failing to win promotion to The Championship.

The Blades have already offered the role to Warburton who officially leaves his job at Brentford on Sunday despite having taken them to the Championship play-offs.
