Sion refusing to accept Europa League fate

Swiss club FC Sion are refusing to accept that they have been kicked out of this season's Europa League competition.

The Swiss Super League outfit were banned by Uefa for fielding five ineligible players in their play-off second leg win over Celtic a couple of weeks ago and will not be a part of Europe's second tier tournament this term.

But club chairman Christian Constantin says they will show up to Madrid next Thursday for what was supposed to be their opening group stage clash with Atletico Madrid.

"We know everything Celtic are doing. They can do what they want," he said.

"We've confirmed our flights to Madrid and have hotel accommodation booked.

"We are preparing to be on the pitch in Madrid next week."

But it seems that Sion's attempts are futile as Celtic are already selling tickets for matches against Atletico as well as Rennes and Udinese whilst Atletico have already had new tickets printed with Celtic's name on them after omitting Sion.
