West Ham hero Trevor Sinclair is confident fans will eventually embrace the London stadium.
Sinclair wrote for whufc.com: "There are a lot of people saying that the new Stadium is not the same as the Boleyn Ground, but for me it is twice as good.
"It is needed for the Club to go forward. There is a fantastic atmosphere when the fans get behind the players and they start producing.
"Hopefully the Stadium will start growing on some of the fans who have yet to be won over.
"I was lucky enough to be part of a great team and we were showmen. We wanted to show off on the pitch and playing with the likes of Paolo Di Canio, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick – I'm sure we would have all enjoyed playing on this pitch and this platform to showcase your skills.
"I am sure the fans will grow to love the Stadium and I just hope the team can do the business."
