Diego Simeone has signed a new long-term deal with Atletico Madrid.
The Argentine tactician, who was being heavily linked with Manchester City, has put pen to a five-year with los Rojiblancos which will keep him at the Vicente Calderon until the summer of 2020.
Simeone was being touted as the possible replacement for Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad Stadium but his decision to commit to Atleti shows he has on intentions of leaving in the near future.
Simeone told the Spanish press: "I choose to be here because I am convinced that the club will continue to grow.
"The club keeps growing. I've made a decision to stay where I am and decisions are sometimes difficult to make in life.
"Fortunately I've been able to make this decision as I see a club that is moving forward, I see eagerness to grow and people willing to collaborate. We all love Atletico Madrid, and we all want to grow together."
