Silvestre: Solskjaer needs time at Man Utd - and fitter players

Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will get it right at Old Trafford.

The pair were teammates at United.

And former Rennes sports chief Silvestre told VG: "I think he is about to realise the size of the task he is facing. The results were very good at the beginning, but have been weaker over time, so it evens out the overall impression a bit. However, I believe that it is promising for the continuation.

"He needs to improve the team in some positions and have time to work with the players. He hasn't had time to really get his principles in place. Physically, the team is not ready to do what he wants them to do.

"It was impossible not to give him the job. Such is football. It goes fast in both directions. You have to look past the results and wait and see what happens until the start of the season. The club will give him enough time. It's important."
