Silva starts but lacklustre Wolves dumped out by Stoke

Stoke City have dumped Wolves out of the Carabao Cup.

Wolves boss Nuno named a strong side at Molineux which included new £35m summer signing Fabio Silva.

But the Premier League side only managed one shot on target for the game.

And Stoke made them pay as Jacob Brown popped to score the winner in the 86th minute.

The Championship outfit will now face Gillingham in the next round.

Potters boss Michael O'Neill said after the game: "It was a great result for us against a very good team. You can come into these games and not have anything to lose and the boys handled the game very well.

"We made seven changes and everyone who came in did very well. It creates competition which is what we want.

"When we looked at their team and they have a new £35m striker and Adama Traore playing up front I knew we were going to be challenged. They threw a lot at us but clean sheets give you a chance to win games."
