Sidwell was one of Stoke's four new signings to travel with the rest of the squad today for a 12-day training camp near the Austrian border.
"Going away will certainly help us and you can see why the club have chosen to go to Germany," the 31-year-old told the club's official website.
"You know exactly what you're going to get from German sides, they produce some top quality players and they're tactically very well organised and difficult to break down.
"In that respect, we will definitely learn a lot playing against the three teams we're coming up against, we know it will be tricky but we are all looking forward to it very much."
