FIFA have rejected the application from the Ukraine FA to allow Wolves defender Max Kilman to turn out for them.
Centre-half Kilman qualifies for Ukraine and Russia via his parents, though he has played for England in futsal. He has stated he'd welcome the chance to play for either nation.
Ukraine coach Andriy Shevchenko has admitted he would consider Kilman for selection if his availability was approved by FIFA.
But this week, journalist Igor Tsyganyk reported on his Youtube channel via Sport-Express: "As far as I understand, after everything, FIFA sent a letter to the UAF, in which it acknowledged that the 8 matches for the national team of England played by Kilman, were official and do not allow him to play for the Ukrainian national team.
"That is, he has English football citizenship and must make his way to the England national team - futsal, beach or football.
"Because futsal, beach soccer and soccer are one family."
Kilman signed a new contract with Wolves to 2025 earlier this season. His parents are from the former USSR. Both mum and dad are half Russian, half Ukrainian. Mum is from Kiev. Dad is from Moscow.
So far this campaign, the 23 year-old Kilman has managed 17 appearances and produced two assists. He was originally spotted and snapped up by Wolves in 2018 from Maidenhead United.
