Shevchenko: Chelsea skipper Terry reminds me of Maldini

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has compared Blues defender John Terry to Italian legend Paolo Maldini.

The former Ukrainian striker played with both defenders during his career, and he believes that Terry is still capable of playing football at the top level.

"Everyone loses a bit of speed but they add experience," Shevchenko said.

"When people ask me about players getting a little bit old, I tell them when I joined AC Milan, Paolo Maldini was 31 and when we did the speed tests, Paolo was one of the first, always.

"He played into his 40s, and John Terry is a player like Maldini. He looks after himself and doesn't have many injuries. On the pitch he knows how to read the game. At his age, if he is 100 per cent fit, he can still perform well."
