Tim Sherwood may escape the axe, even if Tottenham fail to finish in the top four.
The Mail on Sunday says his future does not depend on a top-four finish. Instead, it rests on the potential he shows in the hot-seat until the end of the season.
Sherwood, who takes his fifth-placed team to Norwich this afternoon, could finish no higher than in a Europa League place in May yet still start next season in charge at White Hart Lane.
A review will be carried out by the board this summer, based on how well they feel Sherwood has grown into his role.
