Sheffield Wednesday outcast Rhoys Wiggins is on the verge of a shock return to Premier League side Bournemouth, according to reports from the Daily Echo.

Wiggins joined Wednesday from Charlton Athletic over the summer but has endured a frustrating time due to lack of minutes on the pitch after falling behind Czech Republic international Daniel Pudil in the Owls' pecking order.

As a result, Wiggins is expected to leave Hillsborough before the transfer deadline closes on Monday night and according to reports, the Welsh left-back is being targeted by the Cherries.

Wiggins has had three previous spells under Eddie Howe at Dean Court with his most recent stint on the south coast ending in 2011 prior to his move to The Valley.
