Sheffield Wednesday chairman Chansiri makes new Bruce compo 'swap' attempt

Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri has sought to make the most of their row with Newcastle United over Steve Bruce's defection.

The Mirror says Chansiri offered to drop his legal threat over Steve Bruce if the Toon sent players to Hillsborough on loan.

Chansiri informed the Magpies that he wanted Achraf Lazaar and Rolando Aarons to return to the Championship club for the season.

And senior sources at St James' Park claim that the Thai businessman also wanted a formal arrangement put in place for other players to follow – with Newcastle paying most of their wages.

The Tyneside club immediately dismissed Chansiri's demand - as they believe they have paid the compensation due under the terms of Bruce's Wednesday contract in full.

That sum was significantly less than the £4million that's been widely reported.
