Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce wants to keep on-loan Chelsea defender Michael Hector.

Bruce aims to begin his Sheffield Wednesday rebuild by snapping-up Hector from Chelsea for £3million, says the Mirror.

Centre-back Hector has enjoyed an outstanding season on loan at Hillsborough, and boss Bruce wants to strike a permanent deal.

The Jamaica international, 26, has admitted he hopes to stay with the Owls, and talks between the two clubs are already underway.

Bruce said: "Why wouldn't I want to keep Michael here? He's had a magnificent year with us, and his form since I arrived in February has been simply superb."
