Sheffield Utd warn Blackburn, Sunderland off Tonge

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has warned clubs off making a move for Michael Tonge.

Blackburn and Sunderland have been linked with moves for the midfielder after United missed out on winning promotion to the Premier League.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes is keen to bolster his midfield options with doubts surrounding the future of David Bentley, while Sunderland chief Roy Keane is thought to be a big fan of former Manchester United trainee Tonge.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a fine season with the Blades last term and Blackwell is keen to keep him at Bramall Lane.

"Although people will leave here, Michael is definitely not on that list," Blackwell told the Daily Star on Sunday.
