Sheffield Utd midfielder Oliver Norwood: Fines for missing training sessions

Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Norwood says the players face heavy fines if they skip their daily training schedule.

If any of them decide they might want to give any of the three sessions a day a miss, then they'll be hit in the pocket.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5Live on Thursday evening, Norwood revealed that there is a 'hefty' fine in place for any player who skips part of the programme.

He said: “We were sent back home with programmes, heart-rate monitors, watt bikes, treadmills and basically we have to check-in three times a day.

"All the stuff is recorded on your mobile, you set it all up, it goes straight to the fitness coach and if you don't do a session, it's a fine. So everybody's doing it at the moment.

"I don't know how long that continues, but we are only three days in, so you know what it's going to be like, 10-15 days time, the lads will have had enough of the sight of four walls, whether they'll carry on or not, I don't know.

"It's quite a hefty fine so you are probably better off doing it to be honest."

He added: "When they put fines on it, you have to do it, you have no choice!"

Asked by former Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards how much the fine is, Norwood revealed: "I think it was £500 per session missed and we are doing three a day, so it could rack up."
