Sheffield Utd lose to Barnsley in friendly

Sheffield United lost to Yorkshire rivals Barnsley in a friendly on Saturday.

The Blades, who have also played rivals Huddersfield and Hull City by way of warm-up matches since the return of the Premier League was confirmed, lost 2-0 to the Championship Tykes, who themselves are battling against relegation back to League One.

In truth, little can be read into the results of such friendlies, which are acting as mini pre-season campaigns for the players who are looking for competitive minutes to get their respective fitness levels up before the highly anticipated resumption of the league.

Nevertheless, it's an upset of sorts between two teams who could be separated by two divisions come the beginning of next season.
