Sheffield United boss Gary Speed wants to hang onto Sunderland midfielder Andy Reid.

The Blades want to extend Reid's loan spell from Sunderland - with a view to a permanent move.

The midfielder, who has just two games left on his loan deal, has impressed Blades boss Speed.

Speed said: "He's a good character, which we need."
