Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has reaffirmed plans to buy a new defender in January.
Wilder handed a surprise league debut to Kean Bryan at left centre back, after injuries to Enda Stevens and Ethan Ampadu further depleted the options available for United's big problem position.
"Yeah, 100%," he said after defeat to West Brom.
"I have made my thoughts clear about what we should have done or tried to do in the window. That's gone, we have to move on and battle through it.
"Losing Jack (O'Connell), everyone knows what he brings to the football club.
"It's been a problem position for us.
"We have now played five players in that position.
"In an ideal world I would not have made that many changes. The form of one or two players there should have done a lot better, more consistently.
"Ethan (Ampadu) would have started but he failed a fitness test towards the end of the week."
