Sheffield Utd boss Wilder reluctant to lose Leeds target Sharp

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is reluctant to lose Billy Sharp this month.

Veteran skipper Sharp is wanted by Championship leaders Leeds to replace Eddie Nketiah, who is being recalled by Arsenal from his season-long loan stint at Elland Road.

Wilder said: “I must have read hundreds of reports linking Billy with moves everywhere, but he doesn't want to go anywhere and I don't want him to go, either.

“Billy's been brilliant for what he's done for this club. He is an absolutely fantastic player and a marvellous captain for us.

“He's happy at the moment and very much part of our group. Sure, there are strikers here knocking on the door and providing competition for places.

“And David McGoldrick, Callum Robinson, Oli McBurnie and Lys Mousset are all younger than Billy.

“He understands that, we've talked and he knows how much he is valued here. So, as far as I am concerned, that's the end of the conversation with him."
