Sheffield Utd add Currie, Coughlan to coaching staff

Sheffield United have appointed Darren Currie and Graham Coughlan to their under-23s coaching staff.

Currie is the nephew of Blades ' icon Tony Currie, whilst Coughlan is a former Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham defender.

United say the pair have joined until the end of the season.

It follows Paul Heckingbottom's elevation to first team caretaker manager, after the departure of manager Chris Wilder earlier this month.

Currie, 46, formerly managed Barnet and in Janauary 2019 they actually beat United at Bramall Lane in a huge FA Cup third round shock, reports the Examiner.

Coughlan, also 46, spent two years at Hillsborough as a player and also represented the likes of Plymouth, Rotherham and Livingston. He had spells as a manager at both Bristol Rovers and Mansfield.
