Shearer warns England: Don't do to Sancho what happened with Man Utd attacker Rashford

England legend Alan Shearer says they must not place undue pressure on Borussia Dortmund whiz Jadon Sancho.

Shearer has called for calm, claiming too much pressure was piled on fellow youngster Marcus Rashford by Manchester United when he first broke into the England side.

"I don't think it would be fair to start comparing Jadon Sancho to Michael Owen or Wayne Rooney at the same age," the former Newcastle striker told The Sun.

"Both Wayne and Michael had started and scored in the Premier League, whereas Jadon has been coming on as an impact sub for Borussia Dortmund, albeit very successfully.

"We can be excited about him and I enjoyed his 15 minutes against the Croats on Friday where he showed a burst of pace and some good movement.

"But I don't want to see too much of a burden put on him too early.

"He was a raw kid with a carefree attitude but expectations rose too quickly.

"He wasn't allowed to develop at his own pace and just kept being thrust out there."
