Newcastle United boss Alan Shearer is delighted to have secured 18 year-old striker Nile Ranger to a long-term contract.
"From what I've seen he is an exciting talent," said Shearer of the 18-year-old who has scored 22 times for the club's Reserve and Junior sides this season.
"He will be a part of my plans this season and will be training with us on a full-time basis now.
"I've told him and the likes of Andy Carroll that it's up to them to force their way into the first-team.
"But, although I've only worked with Nile for two weeks, I can see that he's got great potential."
