Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer is full of praise for Liverpool's back four.

Speaking to the Premier League's official website, Shearer named four Liverpool players in his Team of the Week and believes Joe Gomez has earned a call from England.

He said: "[Gomez] put on another powerful defensive display against Brighton. He should now earn a call-up to the England squad."

On Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Premier League's all-time leading scorer added: "[Robertson was] in a back four that has yet to concede a goal this season, this was another assured performance.

"[Alexander-Arnold] was solid at the back and such an attacking force down the right."

James Milner was the fourth Reds player to be picked by the former England captain, who labelled his former Newcastle team-mate's form as "superb".

"Whether he's playing in midfield or anywhere else on the pitch, you know what you get with him. Superb again," added Shearer.
