Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer is convinced by the potential of Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

The former Norwich City starlet didn't look out of place in defeat at Manchester United last week.

Shearer stated: "I always looked at the point that if someone is prepared to pay that amount of money for you then that should in itself give you confidence and belief that you belong on the big stage.

"It's a huge fee for him. If he's not fazed by that, if he can take that in the right way and have the confidence to go out and believe he has the ability to fulfil that potential, then he's a goalscoring midfielder and he should be a good addition to that Leicester squad."
