Xherdan Shaqiri says instructions from Jurgen Klopp were instrumental in Liverpool's goal in their 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The Swiss started in a middle three for Liverpool and his assist for Mohamed Salah at John Smith's Stadium ultimately provided the difference.
Speaking to the club's website, the 26-year-old said he was encouraged by Klopp to remain an attacking presence from midfield.
"I started off in a midfield three and it was also something new because normally I'm more offensive, but I think I can play this position," Shaqiri said.
"Offensively the coach wanted me to be between the lines and I tried sometimes and we scored the goal. I'm really happy that I played from the beginning and I tried to give the manager a good performance. I'm really happy with that."
