Xherdan Shaqiri was proud of his role in Liverpool's Champions League shock against Barcelona.

The Swiss had a big influence on the 4-0 win, which was enough to see the Reds reach the final 4-3 on aggregate.

Shaqiri told Teleclub: "It's hard to find words after such a match. I am incredibly proud of this team, what it has achieved.

"Many had already written off us, but we believed in ourselves and raised our game. It's unbelievable what happened here, I'm shocked! It's just unbelievable that we managed to do that."

The midfielder was delighted to be back in the starting line-up.

"It was not easy for me in the last three months. I did not play that much, but always waited for my chance, trained hard. That's football, this is a top club, you have to bring your own performance. That's why I've done a great job this season.

"Of course it was not easy to play from the beginning after three months. But I felt good and that's what you saw on the pitch.

"We definitely want to get our hands on the Cup. I really want to do it for the second time."
