Former Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri has bid farewell to the club after his move to Lyon.

The Swiss international was unhappy with his lack of playing time at the Anfield club over the past 12 to 18 months.

After impressing at Euro 2020, Shaqiri decided it was time to find a new club to play regularly.

He signed for Lyon for £9.5 million, and made the following comments on an Instagram post about leaving Liverpool: "Dear fans and Liverpool FC, I will miss you!

"You and this special club with the unbelievable Anfield stadium. Thankyou for all your support.

"All the best. Stay safe. Xherdan #YNWA"
