Sevilla midfielder Thomas Delaney says he could have joined Everton in 2018.

The Denmark international had impressed for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and the Toffees were interested, according to reports at the time.

Many have expected him to make a move to the Premier League and he explained why to Kicker.

“I think those expectations were based on an old story from my days in Bremen," he said.

“At that time, Everton wanted to sign me, and in the course of that, I said that I would like to play in England, but also in the USA or Japan."
