Sevilla defeat Eibar to keep Champions League qualifying on track

Sevilla kept their Champions League qualifying on track with a 1-0 win over Eibar on Monday night.

The hosts came up against an sturdy Eibar defence, backed up by an inspired Marko Dmitrovic in goal, and struggled to find a breakthrough in the first half.

Julen Lopetegui's side came closest to opening the scoring when Esteban Burgos bundled the ball on to his own post at a corner.

It wasn't until after the break that Sevilla found a way past the visiting defence, with Ocampos connecting with Jesus Navas' cross to net the winning goal.

Dmitrovic kept the Andalusians at bay for the remainder of the match, producing a particularly fine stop to deny Suso a late second.

Kike Garcia had a glorious chance to equalise in stoppage time, but the Eibar striker could only hit the post with his stretching effort.

The win moves Sevilla six points clear of fifth placed Villarreal in the LaLiga Santander table with four matches to go this season.

Eibar, meanwhile, remain in 17th, one place and six points above the drop zone, and can't relax just yet.
