Sevilla coach Sampaoli delighted with Isco, Jordan for victory over Copenhagen

Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli was pleased after their Champions League defeat of FC Copenhagen.

Sevilla won 3-0 via goals from Youssef En-Nesyri, Isco and Gonzalo Montiel.

Sampaoli later said: "It was a very hard match, very hard fought. When the team got to grips with what was needed, they took advantage. We won it in the second half, though the opposition could have equalised.

"We hadn't won at the Sánchez Pizjuán. It was a decisive match for us. A Champions League match with all that we were playing for. That's where the value lies [of the victory].

"Today Isco took a step forward in playing higher up the pitch which meant he was closer to their goal. We saw Isco much closer to their goal than ours. That's critical for a player with the capacity to play a final pass and shoot.

"We had the possibility today to control the play in the centre of the pitch. Jordán played a great game, in the sense of understanding the situation – they are a very compact team defensively and very fast in transitions."
