Sevilla chief Monchi accepts Roma failings: 95% my fault

Sevilla chief Monchi has accepted his responsibility for his failings at Roma.

Monchi says he'll never criticise the people who took him to the Giallorossi, including former Roma owner James Pallotta.

He told Il Corriere dello Sport: "I will always be grateful to Pallotta for having brought me to Roma, which is a bigger club than it is perceived from the outside. You will never hear me speak ill of him or of the other people who worked with me during that time.

"For me, Eusebio (Di Francesco) deserved to finish the season. He came from the match against Barcelona and had accepted the important transfers that the club had imposed on him: Salah, Rüdiger, Paredes, Mario Rui. For me, he just needed to regain confidence.

"The ownership had other ideas, so I thought it was better to leave the seat to others. And in any case, it wasn't only Di Francesco who resigned: there was simply no more harmony. And the fault is mine, at least 95%.

"It would be easy for me today to say that I wasn't allowed to work as I would have liked. But that wouldn't be the truth. I won't go into details, you ask me about Pastore or other purchases that weren't right but I don't dwell on the individual case.

"I'm just saying that I was wrong, I have not been able to meet the expectations that I myself had."
