Leicester City had a deal in place on deadline day for Sevilla midfielder Steven N'Zonzi.
The Daily Star says he pulled out of a £25million move to Leicester before the transfer window closed last Wednesday.
N'Zonzi, 27, decided to remain in Spain with Sevilla.
His decision came after he learned he would not be eligible to play for England, where he lived for six years during his time with Blackburn and Stoke.
French-born N'Zonzi wasn't the only Sevilla midfielder to see a proposed move to the Premier League collapse.
