Serie A clubs are hoping for a TV cash boost in the coming year.
Pier Silvio Berlusconi, a powerbroker at AC Milan, masterminded Mediaset's new TV deal for the Champions League in Italy for 2015 to 2018.
"We have broken the monopoly of Sky, which was bad for the clubs and the fans," said Berlusconi.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Al-Jazeera are now ready to compete for the Serie A pay-TV rights.
