Sense of excitement among England squad ahead of Euro2016 - Liverpool veteran Milner

Liverpool's James Milner insists there is a buzz of excitement surrounding the England squad.

As the Three Lions continue their preparations for Euro2016 with friendlies against Germany (3-2 win on Saturday night) and Holland (at Wembley on Tuesday), veteran midfielder Milner suggests that the presence of quality youngsters like Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Ross Barkley and John Stones has Roy Hodgson's squad in a solid state.

Milner has been involved in World Cup and Euro squads in the past and is hoping these youngsters can be the catalyst for a change of fortunes in France this summer.

"If I do go to France in the summer, it will be my fourth tournament and I feel pleased about that," said Milner.

"But it would be nice to do well in this one because I don't feel the tournaments I've been involved so far have been particularly successful.

"You play football to win trophies and it's been a long time coming for England. But the players we have coming through now shows that there are good, young English footballers.

"There is a real sense of excitement in the squad again."
