Seattle Sounders have entered into a new partnership with sports science technology company Kitman Labs, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
The team's coaching staff and trainers will use the Silicon Valley-based company's technology with the aim of preventing injuries and optimising player performance.
Kitman Labs already has agreements in place with a host of major league teams in the US and abroad, but the new deal marks the first time the company has partnered with an MLS side.
"Using analytics to predict injuries has to come down to understanding the interactions of everything," said Dave Tenney, the sports science and performance manager at the Sounders.
"There's never one single metric that's going to be predictive of an injury. Kitman Labs' biomechanical screening product Capture delivers accurate information within a simple use model that is truly unique."
