Seattle Sounders expecting Martins back for New England clash

Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid suggests Obafemi Martins will be back from a slight knee injury next weekend.

The Nigerian striker missed last week's CONCACAF Champions League semi-final first leg loss to Santos Laguna and is unavailable for the return bout in Mexico this week.

Former Inter Milan and Newcastle United man Martins has had problems with the same knee in the past but may return for the MLS home clash with New England Revolution on April 13.

"He'll be back early (this) week, and the availability for the New England game, we'll see once he's back. We'll see how the treatment worked for him and how he's doing," said Schmid.

"Yeah, things are going well. That's what he said. Last time he said it took a week to 10 days and then he was all right to play again, so we're hoping it'll be the same sort of thing."
