Clint Dempsey is awaiting word from the Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee regarding a potential two-match suspension.
The Seattle Sounders star was involved in an incident with Toronto FC defender Mark Bloom during his side's 2-1 loss at CenturyLink Field on the weekend.
Reports had suggested that Dempsey had already been handed a two-game ban but Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid said he was yet to be sanctioned ahead of this Saturday's clash with Montreal Impact in Quebec.
"We've asked for it to be resolved before it's time to get on the plane," Schmid told reporters at training on Wednesday.
Dempsey allegedly struck Bloom in the groin during the first half but he suggested after the match that he was only trying to swat the defender's hand away.
