SEASON SNAPSHOT: Exciting times ahead for evolving Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur may have experienced a late-season collapse of sorts but that should not dampen the spirits of the Spurs faithful.

The cub made enormous progress under Mauricio Pochettino in 2015/16 with the youngest squad in the Premier League, indicating that there is plenty of scope at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane announced himself as arguably the competition's deadliest striker, improving on his breakout campaign of 2014/15, while there were outstanding individual seasons from Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen among others.

Spurs are back in the Champions League fold having given the Premier League title a shake until they drew with Chelsea earlier in May.

A winless streak of four matches at the end provided a disappointing finish but there is plenty to look forward on the white half of North London.

FROM THE BOSS

"We need to improve our squad - this is very clear.

"Me, our supporters, our players, our squad - we are all agreed that we need to improve. It's a different level to play in the Champions League.

“To play in the Champions League, the Premier League and the cups, it's important to have a very good balance. We need to improve our squad.

"Replicating this season again is our challenge. For that, we need to improve our squad, to reduce the gap. The Champions League demands a lot of energy, more than the Europa League."

- Mauricio Pochettino, May 2016.
