Aston Villa produced one of the worst Premier League seasons ever seen in 2015/16.
Tim Sherwood took over late last season and oversaw a fairly positive run which culminated in defeat to Arsenal in the 2015 FA Cup final.
There was some positive vibes surrounding the West Midlands outfit following that form under Sherwood and a number of summer signings including Idrissa Gueye, Jordan Amavi, Jordan VeretoutJordan Ayew, Rudy Gestede, Adama Traore and Joleon Lescott had things abuzz.
However, Villa's 'moneyball' approach faltered and they were relegated with ease after replacing Sherwood with Remi Garde, by winning a measly three matches, losing 27 while conceding two goals per game.
At times the Villans were insipid, which increasingly frustrating the loyal supporters, who by the end of the campaign were seemingly disinterested.
Randy Lerner has sold Villa to Dr Tony Xia and the Chinese businessman now has his work cut out for him if he is to restore the pride of the club and lead them back to the Premier League's elite.
You could excuse Villa fans for burying their heads after a dismal campaign of just 17 points, which prompted the club to cancel it's annual end-of-season awards night.
Let's hope things improve at Villa Park before too long.

STAT STORY

17 – Villa picked up just 17 points – the third lowest total in PL history (11 by Derby in 07/08, 15 by Sunderland in 05/06). Horribilis.
