The season is over for Athletic Bilbao captain Carlos Gurpegui.
Gurpegui will miss the remainder of the season as he needs knee surgery.
In an official club statement it was revealed that Gurpegui will undergo arthroscopic surgery, meaning he will have a complete cleaning of his right knee joint.
"After medical consultation, we will proceed in the coming days as the player needs arthroscopic surgery on his right knee," Bilbao's statement read.
"The date of the operation and length of absence will be communicated as soon as possible but will depend on the procedures performed."
