Scunthorpe midfielder happy to stay in Championship

Scunthorpe midfielder Michael O'Connor insists he is happy with the Championship club, despite January links with a move to Manchester City. The Northern Ireland international only signed for the club in the summer in a £250,000 switch from Crewe, but has impressed with his all-action game in the Iron's engine room.

During the January transfer window he was linked with moves to top-tier duo West Ham and Hull amongst others, but the 22-year-old told skysports.com that he is only focused on doing well for Scunthorpe.

"I didn't really listen to that too much because it was all paper talk. It is obviously very flattering to be linked with such big clubs, but I'm just focused on settling down at Scunthorpe and becoming a regular here first," O'Connor said.

"I reckon that I will be at Scunthorpe for another three years or so because I'd like to bed myself in here first before even thinking about another move, but I suppose you can never say never."
