Scunthorpe boss Adkins confident keeping Blackburn target Hooper

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins hopes to hold onto striker Gary Hooper.

Hooper is interesting QPR, while he has also been watched by Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers in recent weeks.

"Everyone was linked with him in January and we managed to keep him at the football club," Adkins told Sky Sports News.

"He is still with us now and he has got another year left on his contract. He has a smile on his face, he works hard as part of the group and everything is great.

"You wouldn't know he had been linked and there had been speculation, as there will be with a lot of players at football clubs around the country, especially the goalscorers.

"We try and give them a platform to learn and to show their skills, and we are going to do everything we can to keep our players at our football club.

"The financial situation happens everywhere and we try and do the best for our football club, likewise we try and do the best for the players as well."
