Scotland Women march on in World Cup qualifiers

Scotland maintained their 100% record in the Women's World Cup qualifying campaign with a 5-0 demolition of Bulgaria in Sofia, reports BBC Sport. Jennifer Beattie, Julie Fleeting, Kim Little, Rachel Corsie and Pauline Hamill scored as the Scots sealed a fifth-straight Group 3 victory.

Coach Anna Signeul said: "The goals came from all over the park, which I think sums up a great team performance.

"There were so many positives to be taken from this match."

Scotland go into Thursday's match against Denmark at Rugby Park a point behind their opponents but with a game in hand.

It completed a double over Bulgaria, who had been beaten 8-1 in Scotland in April.

"We were determined to keep a clean sheet after losing early goals in previous games," said Signeul.

"Not only did we achieve that, but we scored early on ourselves, and we didn't look back after that.

"We were wary of Bulgaria breaking on the counter attack, but we restricted them very well and Gemma Fay was never really troubled.

"Our confidence grows with every win and we've put ourselves into a very good position ahead of Thursday's game."
