Scotland to face Lithuania in opening European Championship game

Scotland will begin their European Championship qualifying campaign away to Lithuania on September 3, the Scottish Football Association confirmed. New national team boss Craig Levein and SFA chief executive Gordon Smith met with representatives from Scotland's Group I rivals in Madrid on Friday morning to finalise the fixture schedule.

Levein will face four double-headers during the campaign, with the Lithuania away game followed by Liechtenstein at home on Tuesday, September 7.

The final double-header is away from home, at Liechtenstein on Saturday, October 8, and Spain three days later.
