Schwarzer pleased with Cech replacement role for Chelsea

Australian great Mark Schwarzer was delighted with the role he played in Chelsea's Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

The 41-year old goalkeeper replaced the injured Petr Cech in the 18th minute of the semi-final first leg at the Vicente Calderon as the Blues denied the attacking quality of the Spaniards on their home soil.

After the match, Schwarzer admitted he didn't really have too much time to ponder what he had to do in order to fill the boots of Cech but was pleased the team finished up with a favourable result ahead of next week's return bout at Stamford Bridge.

"There is not much to think about and it is happening so quickly," he told ITV Sport.

"I'm always prepared and I'm getting used to this whole thing about sitting out and being ready to play at the last minute.

"It is always a tough thing to do. But tonight, I didn't have a chance to really think about it - I just went out there and tried to do my job."
