Former Atletico Madrid star Bernd Schuster has warned his old club they're paying for poor past transfer windows.

Schuster was reacting to Atletico's 4-0 thrashing by Champions League opponents Bayern Munich.

He said, “Bayern were superior on all lines. It was better in the centre of the field. If you look at one team and the other ... Players like Hummels, Ribery or Robben have left at Bayern and little has improved line by line.

"And if you look at Atlético de Madrid, it has gotten worse year after year. It is going to less every year, and that has been the difference in the game.

"It's difficult, players have left and it's difficult to regain the same level."
